How Brehm Interiors Started

Brehm Interiors was founded in 1992 by Edgard Altuzarra as a flooring company serving New York City homeowners. Flooring might seem like a narrow starting point, but it turned out to be an ideal foundation for a renovation business. Because floors touch every room in a home, they require precision, and in a city full of pre-war buildings, they demand a real understanding of a building's underlying structures and quirks.

That early hands-on experience laying floors withing New York buildings became the groundwork for something bigger.

The Evolution Into Full-Service Renovation

In 2004, the company evolved into Brehm Interiors, expanding from flooring into full-scale remodeling. Now, Brehm Interiors conceptualizes, coordinates and manages the renovation of not just kitchens and bathrooms but also complete apartment and home renovations across New York City.  The shift was a natural response to what our clients were already asking us for.  Homeowners who trusted us with their floors started asking if we could handle their kitchen. They asked if we could redo their bathroom.  Soon, we were receiving requests to recreate entire apartments.

Since then, that's been our focus: full-service renovation for New York City homes, apartments, kitchens, and bathrooms, handled by a team that's been working in this city for decades.
